A series of action camera clips that I recorded during the holiday season of 2019 during our first week of my two week holiday in Thailand, during which we stayed at Lamai Beach on Koh Samui. The video was filmed on 26th of December last year, and on the video we cruise around the Koh Samui island visiting the most notable Buddhist temples and temple areas of the island. They are one of the most important tourist destinations on Koh Samui, and they also offer very nice scenery to many directions on the island. Definitely places worth visiting if you ever happen to visit Koh Samui.
First we climbed up to the Khao Hua Jook Pagoda temple, which is between the Chaweng lake and the airport of Koh Samui island. It offers probably the best landscape views of the island to multiple directions as it stands quite high on top of a hill. At the start I mixed it up with the Big Buddha statue, as we were originally heading for that, but luckily we visited both. The way down from the hill is a bit difficult with a scooter, especially if it rains and the paved road is slippery.
The street views taken in the traffic are generally one of my most favourite travel clips as a memorial from my travels, as they are nice live footage from the local scene. That is why I included quite a bit of driving clips with decent music if you are interested to see how the traffic looks like on the islands, and if you have thoughts about renting a motorbike during your stay in Thailand.
The most important Buddhist temple destination was the large Big Buddha statue on the northeastern part of the island. The golden statue is located on a tiny peninsula from the main island, and the narrow land area that connects the two together offers nice views especially during sunset.
The third and also the last temple area we visited was the Wat Plai Laem temple compound, which is just a 2 minute drive away from the Big Buddha statue, and includes many different styled statues and temples in the same location, for example that large statue monk of wealth, a fat smiling male person with a money pouche on right hand and a necklace on left hand.
On the evening we wanted to go to enjoy a beautiful sunset on Lipa Noi beach on the southwestern part of the island, as sun shines there best during late afternoon and early evening. We liked that beach the most on Koh Samui as it is quite far from the key tourist centers and it is very clean. Therefore significantly less crowded compared to Lamai Beach or Chaweng Beach. Just had to buy the cool refreshments for the evening before that 🙂 . In Thailand cash is the main method nearly everywhere, and the use of credit cards is very limited in most places like restaurants and so on. On those market stores like 7eleven, Family Mart and Tesco Lotus you can nearly always pay with the most common credit cards, and even contactless payment worked a few times.
Please like the video if you enjoyed it, and subscribe to my channel for more videos like this. I can happily recommend these destinations if you like to travel to Thailand and are looking for new places to visit.
