i had one of these traded it for an Alienware 17 r4 which i hated actually lol now i have the aw 17 r1 which pretty much shares the specs as the m6800 just gamer oriented so lacks comp trace and what not but my m6800 had the 4910mq 64gb ram dual 500 gb ssds in raid zero and a 1tbn hdd for games plus i had thew quadro k5000m 8gb card
you can load it with an m8000m p5000m quadro most of these had k4000m k4200m

Thank you for sharing that. I have an M6600 that I changed out the harddrives and upped the memory, it has been great, but am finding that the Wifi card kinda sucks (at least my provider is telling me it is the computer). I am considering buying the 6800 because it seems to have just the right kickup from the 6600. If you would care to share you thoughts, I'd appreciate it.

Just upgrade wifi 6 and GPU 980M 8gb and ur good for another 7-8 years even LED to 4K or the one with 120hz refresh rate available now
Concur with your review, M6800 is a great laptop. Bought mine new in 2016 from company that bought too many so were selling off excess. Before I got this one, I was a new laptop every year guy. Came with i7-4910MQ and 32GB RAM, win7 pro. Upgraded GPU from Quadro 4100M to GTX980M. Now on Win10 pro. One thing with these guys, the 2 fans are dust magnets, recommend cleaning couple times/year at least. Plays all modern games with good fps, fans get a little active with Doom Eternal. I'm using 3 hard drives, 3TB total.
One of the perks on this laptop, also has an M.Sata slot on it as well.
I ended up getting the model recently with a i7 4810mq 16gb of ram because I wanted something with a decent amount of power and I also got a 1tb Samsung 860 evo ssd to put into It. Can't wait to see how it performs!
Got Precision M6800 and upgraded gpu to Nvidia GTX 980M 8gb. I love the design and expansion of this model.
I bought mine last week in 2021 and it boots up quick even slightly faster same specs. With 256 SSD the performance and speed are awesome and it stays cool. Upgraded it from my HP 3rd gen 8770w workstation. A very good choice, cheers!

I just bought m6800 ( 4940mx-k5100m-16gb-ssd ) and noticed it get arroung 55-60 degrees under normal load, 95 degrees under load ( > 30% utilization ). is it normal to this type of workstation ? the fan kick in and very annoying. FPS is lower than I expected with this GPU ( avg 150 fps lowest setting CSGO )

I have this laptop before I sold it. The only complaint that I have to this precision m6800 is the WEIGHT. damn! it's pretty heavy for me to carry everyday
I bought a Dell Precision M6800 (256ssd, 16gb ram) 5 years ago, still going strong apart from a broken hinge that needs fixing. You think I should upgrade my graphics cards from NVIDIA Quadro K4100M w/4GB GDDR5 to NVIDIA Quadro K5100M 8 GB or save for a new laptop? cost of the graphics card is £300.
I've got one with an i7-4810MQ at 2.8 GHz with 32 GB ram and a 256GB ssd plus a 1TB hdd and a dedicated graphics card Nvidia Quadro. Paid $550 and it's the best machine I've ever owned and I go back to when my first home computer was an IBM clone with a 33mhz processor and 256kb ram running dosshell 6.22, pre-Windows. Those were the days, you had to type the commands to tell it what to do, not just click the pretty picture. You had to have some idea what you were trying to do. And we wonder where creative thinking went. 😪
