I watched this to see if I should get the i7 or i9-11980HK but it only confirmed that I should stick to ryzen 9 5900HX seeing as overall 5900HX is still better but the difference is the connection availability where intel has thunderbolt 4
Sadly, the i9-11980HK in the GE76 is gimped by minimal thermal design–the Alienware X17 R1 with i9-11980HK got 14951 in Cinebench R23, so just know that performance of the intel 11th gen will vary a lot by thermal design–same for the i7-11800H.

I wish they had performance-to-price graphs. They'd say "oh wow look how close it is to the 5900hx!!" and then you find out it's like 50% more expensive rendering that pointless and ineffective. It's misleading. It's good they mentioned that at the end at least.

i7-11800H is better than Ryzen 7 5800H for productivity. Massive PCIe Gen 4.0 bandwidth difference, more clockspeed. Ryzen 7 5800H has 16 PCIe Gen 3.0 lanes vs 20 PCIe Gen 4.0 lanes for the i7-11800H.
Here in Cinebench R20, it outperforms desktop Core i9-9900K and i7-10700K at stock while the TDP is less than a half:

I just got zephyrus duo 15 se with 5900hx … boy o boy its a beast compared to my old zephyrus which had 10980hk.. and i am surprised that its even superior to 11980hk…
Intel cpus are very ineffienent. It consumes too much power to match ryzen. Not good for laptops.
I never understood the idea behind capping the CPUs at 45W. No laptop will do this by default. Is this an efficiency or performance benchmark?

The 11980HK isn't the only overclockable chip. All 11th gen H chips are. The difference is that the HK chip is fully unlocked while the H chips allow for upto +400 MHz max.

Running on just 45 watts doesnt tell the whole story one has see the specific review of a laptop before buying theres so many variables you just cannot buy a laptop by looking at the CPU

I feel from the comparisons drawn from the Tiger Lake H and Ryzen 5000H series, I can't help but feel that Intel's 10nm seems to be at a slight disadvantage. Architecturally, there is a difference, and may also be one of the factors affecting Tiger Lake's efficiency. But it is clear that Intel is pushing clockspeed hard to try and get a competitive advantage over competition, which on the flipside, requires a substantially higher boost power.
In any case, I do agree with Tim that I won't recommend either the Ryzen 9 or Core i9 mobile processors. On paper they always seems better, but generally letdown by the lack of power or cooling to sustain the clockspeed advantage. As a result, I don't see the point of paying a steep premium just for a slight increase in performance.

I think its stupid To Test all Chips at 45 Watts (no Offense) because of i would like To buy an Laptop With an r9 of i9 i would buy a bigger Good cooled Laptop With Strong Power delivery. In a thinner Laptop it’s mostly not worth it to pay for such a cpu because you can’t take advantage of it. There you shouldn’t go over a r7 or i7. At least in my opinion. But still a good video
Intel may not be able to compete once you factor in price and power but at least they are no longer getting trounced in every category; it shows potential for the future architectures. Hopefully this is the start of a period of genuine competition. Think how far we've actually come in 5 years since the Intel monopoly started to crumble and we were no longer stuck with 4 cores as the only option at the top end.

Not sure if incompetent or malicious shill, but your testing methodology was terrible and gimped the intel by up to 40% fps in some cpu bound titles because you forced nvidia optimus on and lowered the power limit. The MSI GE76 Raider has a MUX SWITCH FOR A REASON
Your testing methodology was stupid you intentionally gimped the 11980hk in gaming by hooking it up to the integrated gpu/ mvidia optimus rather than using the mux switch to bypass igpu and get full cpu performance connected to the 3080. This tells us nothing about real world gaming performance the 11980hk will be 9-40% higher fps depending on the game by using the discrete gpu over the AMD cpus that usually do not have mix switches You also gimped the 11980hk by setting it to 45w rather than 65w. What the hell? Everything should be thrown out
The performance difference seems worth it to have access to the Thunderbolt ecosystem.
From the powerscaling chart, it does look like amd tuned these chips for peak efficiency and still equals intel when they tune it for performance. Not a bad CPU by any means, but zen 3 still looks vastly superior.

IDK why your numbers are so off from every benchmark I have seen on the GE76 with the 10980HK where it was the highest scoring laptop by every youtuber I have seen until now in gaming. I have also seen video proof of the 11980HK hitting right at 15000 in Cinebench R23 in the Alienware X17.
My 10300h i5 is underutilized. an i9 would get bored with me pretty fast.
One of the drivers was acting abnormally, and after a search of the
vehicle and then the individual, they discovered 256 Intel CPUs,
specifically the i7-10700 and i9-10900K models, strapped to the body
every intel computer and intel based infrastructure is a ticking timebomb .. built to compromise data
What I am getting here is that the best laptop processor is plainly the 5800u, does more with 15 watts then most stuff with 3x the draw.
