What the nits and rgb of the screen?
First look… 4 years ago? Mine was already 2 years old by this point – FHD, Quadro K2100M, 16GB, i7-4700MQ. And I'm still using it, although the Lite-On hybrid died just past the 3 year (and warranty) mark. It's been upgraded to have a 500GB m.2 Samsung EVO 850 and a 2TB WD Blue. It came with a Seagate 1TB which is still in it too. No optical because it's not 2005 any more.

Going for brand new stuff, what could be an alternative at such expense ? My needs: Interested in video editing, photoshopping,surfing the net for hours,

No cad cam work,no gaming.
Wondering if,should I go for such device or a brand new one at the same money ?

i7-4900MQ is beast.
I just picked one of these up second hand on eBay in superb condition for just a hair over $300 USD. A brand new Dell Inspiron 15 3000 Series laptop has a dual core i5 in it, 8GB of ram, lower screen resolution of 1366 x 786, a 256GB SSD, no dedicated video card and it costs $500 USD plus tax. How can anyone justify spending that kind of money on a laptop when there is such great value floating around out there?

I love this machine. I was lucky to buy one 2nd hand from a friend of a friend who is a professional video editor. He bought it new and chose the maximum spec Dell offer (4940MX, 32GB, K2100M, 1TB/512GB SSDs etc.). He paid over £3k for it. I also have a Precision tower workstation with similar spec (8-core Xeons, 32GB, SSDs etc.) and this laptop equals it in performance. For example, it'll happily run about 6 virtual machines all day long. Even at full load, the fan noise is never annoying as it has two of them. I also have the precision dock with 3 monitors hooked up. Best battery design I've seen on any laptop (I've owned dozens). And the bronze coating on the metal is sublime. Did I mention that I love this 😉

Great video you covered most of the bullet points. Unit heat was a concern of mine, especially in South Florida. The only improvement to the video would be to show a ruler or tape measure for footprint size reference or stack a Latitude on top.
He said all USB ports are 2.0. Correction: This laptop comes with four 3.0 USB ports, two on each side.
is there a free pcie port for upgrading to a FireWire port?
How long this mobile workstation can "live"? I have to work for up to 12h-15h/day. And if i get it clean twice a year. Can it work for 8 years? (Of course the battery will be die but it can change).
I wonder if Dell Precision M4800 is still a valid choice for photo editing in photoshop and lightroom in 2017 with how demanding these applications are , ?
