Hey when I try to render a video, it goes to about 100 degrees and blatantly shuts down. For this I have to really undervolt and limit the cpu usage to use it comfortably while losing a lot of performance. Do I have to replace the thermal paste or is the laptop itself like this?

Thank you! I bought the 7520 as my next personal primary. I got the USB-C one based off what you said. I love that it’s very upgradable and I can see me having this around for years to come.
I've had the 7510 for a couple of years. All in all it is an awesome machine. But the biggest problem is the that the NumLock key has almost no separation from the keys to the left, so it is very easy to accidentally hit the NumLock key. Very poor design.
That's a good point on res. I have a 7470 with a 1080p for that reason. I run Windows 7 pro. My 5491 has a higher resolution, but there's no Windows 7 option for that one. I have the thunderbolt 3 dock but I keep my eport dock for my 7470 because it's a better setup over all. Thunderbolt is fast and offers lots of options but I like the press and go docking and I fear wear on the port. I love yours of course. That's one heck of a laptop:)

This is the first Windows based Professional laptop I loved after Macbook pro 15. Actually now between new Macbook pro 15 and this. Yes it is windows… but build quality is very nice. I even liked it more than thinkpad. And if they took those stikers, it would be perfect, had a difficult time removing it from my hp. On ebay actually you can find a lot of refubrished models. Maybe this is an issue with this model(i am talking about display).

Great video. I am going to buy the i5 6300HQ version. Can't decide which video card. FirePro W5170M or Quadro M1000M for 3D modeling (Blender, 3DsMAX, Maya, Cinema4D)?
Any one in that is in any kind of engineering/architecture course I highly recommend this work station! I have only had mine 4 weeks and only have done one summer course with it but it is so smooth fast quiet and beautiful display!

thanks for the review – planning to buy it , however not sure how it stacks up against Lenovo P50 .. P50 is almost $500 less than Dell 7510 , there are a whole lot of issues on Lenovos site .
