My problem with the buttons on one side is putting the phone into a holder for the tripod without mashing one or more buttons. If someone has a holder that avoids this problem I'd like to hear about it.

Totally agree re: the fucking stupid 94 buttons asking the right hand side. 90% of the time I press them is an accident.
I absolutely hate the aspect ratio. I would prefer 16×9, let alone this insanely narrow shape. Narrowest phone I've seen in my life and dumb as fuq. Instagram crops video, YouTube has black side bars (yet STILL no permanent navigation buttons) just hate it

Sadly Sony only guarantees two years of security updates. Honestly kind of ridiculous. If I buy this phone today, I'll not even be able to safely use it for two years. I loved my Sony phones, but I think this time around I'll have to go with Google or Samsung…

This was one of the videos that made me gather my senses and decide to not spend double the amount of money on the 1iii but rather get the 5ii. Thank you for this revisit, basically everything you've mentioned is also what I came across in my first week of using it
Best phone I've ever had, had it since february and sure it was insanely expensive compared to what it goes for now second hand but man… I bet this phone will stay going strong even 4 years down the track
Initial gripes easily solved with a case. Poor selfie camera a bit of a deal-breaker. But headphone jack a dealmaker. 🤔
Waiting for my Sony XZ3 to die before I upgrade again, but 3 years going strong! Seriously. I'm a long term user of Sony phones after switching from Apple years ago. Their early phones would last me about a year and the build quality wasn't great. The old phones also had plenty of software bugs and glitches. My XZ3 is a tank. Survived many drops with no scars to show. Camera is amazing. Display is beautiful. It's running as fast and smooth as the day I got it! I know the new phones costing as much as $1,300 sounds terrifying, but if you wait a year for price to drop below a grand, then use it for 3+ years, suddenly it's a pretty darn good value.

Does this phone have any compatibility issues with Bluetooth? As I have the Xperia 10 ii and it wont stay connected to any of the Mercedes vans at work and I had the same issue with my old Z5 compact and another old budget Sony phone. My Samsung Galaxy A40 happily connected and worked fine on any van I got in (Mercedes or otherwise) but after a year the battery life struggled so I went back to Sony

I would have preferred frosted back glass like the z5. Frosted is just so beautiful. If it's going to be slippery, at least make it slippery+fingerprint resistant at the same time

Ive had my Xperia 5ii since its release date last October.
Stil going strong, nothing inherently wrong with it. Reliable and feature packed.
+1 for it being slippy af. I've put a rear textured skin into it to keep it holdable.
Google assistant button isn't the issue for me, as I use a magnetic holder.
My biggest gripe has been 2 issues: 1.unlocking in my pocket, causing me to do all sorts of bollocks in the last app I had open.
2.The screen doesn't seem to go off when I'm on a phone call and I've found myself turning my torch or hitting other quick tiles during a call.
