Washington, D.C., formally the District of Columbia and also known as D.C. or just Washington, is the capital city of the United States of America. In 1846, Congress returned the land originally ceded by Virginia, including the city of Alexandria; in 1871, it created a single municipal government for the remaining portion of the district.
The city is divided into quadrants centered on the Capitol Building, and there are as many as 131 neighborhoods. The estimated population of 705,749 as of July 2019, makes it the 20thmost populous city in the U.S. and gives it a population larger than that of two U.S. states. Commuters from the surrounding Maryland and Virginia suburbs raise the city’s daytime population to more than one million during the workweek. Washington’s metropolitan area, the country’s sixthlargest (including parts of Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia), had a 2017 estimated population of 6.2 million residents.
A locally elected mayor and a 13member council have governed the district since 1973. Congress maintains supreme authority over the city and may overturn local laws. D.C. residents elect a nonvoting, atlarge congressional delegate to the House of Representatives, but the district has no representation in the Senate. District voters choose three presidential electors in accordance with the Twentythird Amendment to the United States Constitution, ratified in 1961.

Snowfall walk in Times Square, New York City. It’s been a year since I last visited New York. I didn’t plan a route for this video. My friend living in Brooklyn sent me a text that there would be snowfall in New York the following morning, so I made a 14hour drive up to New York the day before and crashed in my hotel room in Times Square at 2 am. The next morning it started to snow, but I was still totally exhausted from the night before. This walk is a bit aimless and mostly around Times Square because I had to start work immediately after and was already out of it. I wanted to capture the contrast between this video and my previous videos from 2019. New York is so quiet. Early apologies for all of the cuts in the recording. I stopped to clear water residue off of my camera lens every so often. Binaural audio for an immersive experience.
