Can eGPU also be used for a older Desktop System like Win 7 build with a Videocard in it? Then just switch for games to the external one?

I finally tried and am working with PROXY VIDEOS!
Just slap that 4k into a lower resolution, in Resolve or Premiere or whatever,
set the playing resolution maybe also to half or whatever and EDIT with no issues!
You do not actually need even a tower, if you do it this way.
Of course, who does not like PIXELS and high resolutions,
but, then I would go with a desktop tower and destroy everything in my way with it :).

Do what works best for you. It isn't a bad idea. It is only a bad idea if your laptop has an I-5 GPU.. only cause you have insane graphics and a slow laptop.

You're expecting data to go in eGPU and then back to render on laptop screen…not possible. Just hook up an external monitor on an arm, it would be much better.

I need help finding external graphics card for my laptop I am confused with the egpu and graphics card. So if I get the egpu do I need to buy the graphics card too? Is the egpu just a shell? Heeeeelp! Thanks
Another downside is, if that stupid power brick dies, your up shite creek.
If the razor one dies you can easily hack it and chuck in a generic psu.
They are just way too expensive for what they are. They are literally $2 board, with adapters. And a Tb3 cable
I am not very good with computers, but I need a slightly better GPU to play on of my games. I have a 1.5 ghz and the game needs 3.0 to run at all. I don't care what it looks like or how big it is, I just need it to be cheap and to work. What would be the best option for me? I also don't want to have to build a bunch of stuff.

Its worth it if the display is external.
World, please don't buy Razer. Way overpriced. Send them a message to get their prices down. Most of the things I've bought from them were flakey and unusable. The screws literally fell out of my Razer Blade Stealth and my egpu is a paperweight. Tech support is useless. I'd have better luck flying to China to get them fixed.

Argh… where is the time, when you could read these and search within text of website?! nowdays it is waste of bandwitch and my time watch these videos looking for answer which honestly is not there. We can not search in videos, even faster playback can't help. Just some guys talking about nothing trying to be technician and that good charismatic guy in one. Sorry mate, stop waste world resources to promote yourself.
The spikes are likely due to the TB3 board on that particular eGPU enclosure. Also, not all cards are compatible.

I got an ASUS ROG G752VY-DH78K I keep wanting to get an EGPU but not sure if it's worth it with a Thunderbolt 3 when new computers have Thunderbolt 4 Now
Thanks man, I got a cheap laptop hoping to upgrade it but apparently companies like to make parts integrated so external stuff like this help
