I use the dell latitude e7240 with an i5-4310U with 8gb of ram with an 180gb ssd (second hand btw) since 2019 as my daily driver and i have no complaints besides the battery life and the laptop running quite hot with the fan being noisy but that may be due to the fact that i don't wanna change the thermal paste just bc i feel like i would kill the laptop) , i've had it running win7 ,win8, win10 and win11 leak , and it was pretty snappy , overhall i like this laptop and will be using it until his last breath lol
Hey I really love that machine.. how much those it cost
You forgot to mention the SD slot.
whats the screen size?
Very unconventional keyboard removal. You should unplug the cables first.
Where to buy these i been looking for this dell e7240
no express card slot?
I had an Hp 17 -p120wm laptop and it was so slow, it frustrated me so much. It is taking a bit of getting used to (as far as screen size is concerned) owning this Dell E7240, (non touch screen version) but this is so fast. Mine came with the Core i5-4300u and this thing is really quick. It has 8gb memory and a 256GB SSD. This seems like it can give years of service. Is it worth it to get the docking station?
Should i buy it?. Dell e7240, i7 4***, 256 ssd, touch. For 180 $ here in ymen + 75$ for new battery.
Thank you.
Бля я только что узнал что у меня есть подсветка клавиатуры!
No nipple mouse? I am disappoint.
I have two of these, both run Linux perfectly.
I have the i7 with a 1366×6768 screne. This has been my daily driver for the last two years, currently run LMDE 4 on it. I also have the 15 version with 1920×180 touchscreen running OpenSUSE TW.
The i7 is noticeably faster and lighter than the i5 which maintains its position as my daily. Just got my hands on a m03p I've eben using while int he office and I am thinking of harvesting the i5 for parts for it.
Love the mSATA drives – I have many lying around the house, and this machine is among the easiest I ever had to get to the ungradeable parts. I've never HAD to remove keyboard to upgrade sdd, ram or wifi.
Hmmm… seems they are quite a bit less than $400 on eBay.
just bought it i7 16g ram nvidia 2g vram 512g ssd for 445$ was it a good deal?
I would choose the X240 all the way, you can change that trackpad and have a better built, prettier (in my opinion) and with a way better keyboard laptop
Much as I love Thinkpad, I have to admit that this laptop seems to be a the better competitor than X240: it has more ports, easier to open up, easier to remove keyboard, better trackpad and 2 RAM slots, the hinges look more sturdy too. I still like my X240 with touch screen a lot though.
Thats a much nicer 7240 then mine. I think that I still have 4 or 5 of them sitting around my house. Not too sure what to do with them all yet.
Can anyone who has this laptop tell me if u can play roblox properly on this laptop?
all touch e7240s and e7440s have a carbon fiber texture on the lid.
Only dell e6440 and e6540 have amd gpus, and still it runs at 90c. None e7440s and e7240s had amd gpus.
$400?!?!!?!???!?!?!? holly s**t!!!! that f**king expensive for one of these… i wouldn't pay more than $200 for a dell from 2013
Yeah, lovely:)
Great vedio great channel, keep on moving
LOL I got i one of this for less than a hundred bucks. Running along nicely after upgrade ram and msata ssd
Hi there, love your channel. You were one of the channels that go me into used Thinkpads. Anyway, do you feel that the 12.5 screen is too small along with the smaller keyboard? I currently have a beat up T430s which is starting to show its age a bit. From this video I have found this Lattitude series and can't decide between the 12 or 14 inch(potentially the 7280 vs 7480, potentially go back a generation pending price). Typically do the normal browsing, streaming, light games(prefer old school games). Just having a hard time deciding since I have never had a 12.5 ultrabook before. I know you and other tech channels get these questions all the time, but any advice you could give is much appreciated. Cheers from a fellow Canadian.
Nice and quick to the desktop! You can see why a lot of Refurbishers are still selling 4th Generation Intel CPU laptops like this one. Much easier to service than a lot of modern laptops where you have to pretty much strip them right down just to upgrade the RAM or replace the battery.
How do you think an HP 2570p compares to the X230?
1:58 I doubt it. My E7440 with intel igpu couldn't even do some gaming without throttling even after some fresh MX4 xD
I'm still super happy with my X240, especially since it has the 1080P touchscreen and pretty much all the bells and whistles, BUT the Latitude E7240 would definitely have been the better choice if I needed 16GB RAM!
By the way, BattDepot only had the 24Wh internal battery and the 48Wh external battery in stock when I was shopping for a new battery; with shipping fees, it would've cost $105 (pick-up fee would've been $8 vs $15 shipping, but I would've spent the difference in gas) for both. Lenovo was running a sale plus I had a promo code that got me the 72Wh external battery for only $130, free shipping. (I checked eBay, but that was a no-go because most sellers were based in China or Hong Kong.)
When I got the X240, I did a battery gauge reset on both batteries — the original internal battery still had 18Wh capacity and the original external battery still had 16Wh capacity — so it made sense to spend the extra $25 to buy the 72Wh 6-cell battery directly from Lenovo and keep the original internal battery, because that meant an overall capacity of 90Wh. Now I get upwards of 12 hours, depending on what I'm doing 🙂
Thanks again for the rec — I love my X240!!
Have you taken a look at any HP Elitebooks? But maybe its better to keep quiet since they might appreciate in value after you bring them up…
That screen glare tho.
I have a Dell Latitude E7270 in my wardrobe working perfectly i5 6300u 16GB 256GB 1366×766 non touch display, I use it for Linux distribution testing, it's not upto daily driver use anymore for me
Do you have any suggestions on how to get Thinkpad batteries specifically T460 batteries for reasonable prices in Canada?
Does the textured trackpad feel strange to use? For comparison, my X230 has a highly textured trackpad, to me it just feels so bizarre to use….almost overly sensitive even when the sensitivity is adjusted.
hey! Its my laptop! I have a E7240 with the I7 and a very bright 1080p touch screen its an amazing machine.
