Topdown approaches are good for producing structures with longrange order and for making macroscopic connections, while bottomup approaches are best suited for assembly and establishing shortrange order at nanoscale dimensions.

In this week’s video, I demonstrate my method for dowel joinery without the use of a jig. This method requires the use of a brad point drill bit, which is the same diameter as the dowel used on your project. The real secret is how to accurately mark and drill one part of your project so that the adjoining parts can be accurately marked for the receiving holes. This process involves knowing how to dry fit as you progress through your project before the final assembly and glueup. This system will work on almost any dowel joined piece of furniture with excellent results. You don’t need a dowel jig.

In this video we will explore What is Topdown processing is and how does it work.
I will be also sharing some examples of Topdown processing so that it’s easier to understand it.
Topdown processing, refers to a perception that is driven by cognition. Your brain applies what it knows and what it expects to perceive and fills in the blanks.
When we utilize topdown processing, our ability to understand information is influenced by the context in which it appears.
Topdown processing is the process of using context or general knowledge to understand what we actually perceive.
So as you can see the context is what determines the meaning and that is how Top Down processing works.
Topdown processing serves a positive function by simplifying the way we consume the information.
Part of the reason for this is that topdown processing helps us recognize patterns. Patterns are useful because they help us understand and know how to interact with the world.
On the other side by using Topdown processing we are getting used to things and that can limit us in certain ways.
You might get stuck with simple things like Copying text on the computer. This happened to me after I switched from Windows Laptop to my Macbook.

Generally speaking, there are two approaches to understanding the process of perception. These are the topdown processing and the bottomup processing.
Topdown processing is defined as the development of pattern recognition through the use of contextual information.
When we utilize topdown processing, our ability to understand information is influenced by the context in which it appears.
If I showed you these 3 letters you could guess the entire word based on available information as TopDown Processing ses previous experience and expectations Info is interpreted using contextual clues.
Topdown processing is the process of using context or general knowledge to understand what we actually perceive.
Bottomup processing is an explanation for perception that involves starting with an incoming stimulus and working upwards until a representation of the object is formed in our minds.
Bottomup processing is purely datadriven and requires no previous knowledge or learning. Bottomup processing takes place as it happens.
So if you smell freshly baked chocolate chip cookies then you will get hungry and if it’s sunny outside then you might want to take sunglasses with you.
Topdown processing helps us recognize patterns and patterns are useful because they help us to simplify, understand and know how to interact with the world.
Bottomup processing helps us to create environment around us that triggers the right actions and improves our life
On an everyday basis we use a mix of both Bottomup and Topdown processing to interpret the world around us and create our reality.
