I think Dell XPS 13 7390 2 in 1 is not the right choice if typing experience is your top-priority. Sad 🙁
I thought I was going mad until I found this video! Keys are constantly missed as I type (I am actually manually correcting these sentences right now!) Sadly I think I will have to look for a new laptop soon as the 7390 is infuriating. Great laptop in most other ways but I wouldn't advise anyone to buy this model. Thanks for the review ThinkView – shame I didn't see it before I bought 🙁
Could not disagree more, I really like the keyboard.
My Dell bad experience
The one-year warranty for Dell’s computers starts from the product distribution date, not the date the product is received
Customer ratings on the Dell website are checked by a moderator and a majority of negative reviews will no be published
The Dell repair center can cause the product to be further damaged. The product can even be returned with missing parts, and the repair process can even cause previously working parts to break.
Me who watching the Video on it:
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhh……….
I agree. I have one and I hate using it. Since I upgraded to this model the laptop stays mostly in the case. I am checking to see if the 9310 uses the same keyboard part number.
Hey, I am a typist kind of person who types really fast and pays much much more attention to the typing experience, this keyboard, to be honest, it's a disaster, the main problems are with the space key and it will seriously affect your typing if the space button can't respond fast enough. However, i found the perfect solutions, just put some black color tape on the space button, in my case, total 4 layers on the central area where your thumb usually press and bingo, the problem is solved, and i am not able to enjoy this little power house fully.
This is a design defect product, I bought last year, all the rubber strips are peeled due to the heat of CPU. And it’s not under warranty. You will need to pay a whole shell cost to fix and no guarantee for whether it will happen again or not
Честная попалась няшенька ^_^
Does someone know how good it works to draw with the pen? Is it suitable for illustration?
Had this laptop for 4 months now. This is my favorite keyboard to type on cause of the clicky feeling, not sure why everyone is complaining so much.
There is a new XPS13 2-in-1 2020. Is the keyboard better in this new version?
great review! I'd like to add also about Dell XPS models. I spent lots of money on Dell XPS15, which is very similar to this one. Not talking about it being replaced 3 times as it constantly was coming with issues, something was not working at all. But now I have a key spinning issue with 2 keys and Dell doesn't seem to care at all about their bugs. Ifyou get lucky to get alaptop wth just notcomfy keyboard – congrats! Cause mine doesn't work and will never work at all…
Great review and videography! 🙂 I guess all will have different opinions but I love this keyboard, they stretched it to the edges of the laptop to make it perfect full sized compared to desktop keyboards. I have the preceding 13 inch XPS 9365 2-in-1 model and touch typing on the smaller (not proper sized) keyboard which does not reach the edge of the laptop is very difficult if your brain learned touch typing on full sized desktop keyboards. I agree the key travel is low, but a necessary evil to keep it thin enough to allow easy tablet mode for youtube/drawing with active pen 🙂

I don't iniw how anyone csn say that. The whole point of this system is to use the touchscreen, voice and the pen. The keyboard works ok. It's not a 'laptop'. If you need to type, just dock it and use a proper keyboard, mouse and monitor. I've seen reviews of this talking about the keyboard when that's the least of your concerns. If one wants to do wordprocessing, get a laptop instead of a 2-in-1.
I just sold mine just after 5 months. The keyboard, and the build quality is a big no for me.
Dell made the same mistake as Apple: as soon as I saw "MagLev", I ran away. It's terrible: I tried it in-store and it's a PITA for most people who type on keyboards. I'm sure you can get used to it, but it's not confidence inspiring to type on.
I ended up getting the Spectre x360 13t (which also includes a USB-A port) and a replaceable NVMe SSD (no soldering there).
Thoughts on the LG GRAM 17 ? They now sell them at Costco in my country and I want to try one out !
I like the keyboard so much! It has this wonderful click feedback when you press the keys, as if you were typing on a mechanical keyboard. My guess is that whether you like it or not depends on what other keyboards you have been using. If you would not be tired out on a Cherry brown switch or blue switch, you will find this keyboard fascinating. The short key travel isn't an issue at all–it is compensated by that mechanical click feedback, call it tactile if you like. The space bar? It's actually not the space bar's problem: it's how the keyboard area is indented. Just use a bit more force with your thumb when pressing the space bar. I got used to that in a few days. What I do find inconvenient with the keyboard (and hence some DIY on my own) are the removal of the raised bump on the DELETE key and the Page Up/Down keys being too close to the arrow keys.
Can’t stop myself from waiting for An unboxing of Dell Xps 15 9500. That would be an ultimate choice for me 😎
