Interrail/Eurail can be a great way of travelling in Europe, this was the way my friends and I had travelled to Italy in my recent vlogs ‘Interrailing Italy’. It was one of our first times budget backpacking and immediately thought of eurail as a budget alternative. But looking back, maybe we could have gotten a better deal?
I’ve created this video as a guide for figuring out if Eurail is worth it for your trip, and ensuring you get the most value for money if you do decide to pay up!

Whether you’re considering getting a Eurail global pass, an Interrail pass, or some other variation of a Eurorail pass, this comprehensive Eurail pass review is a must watch for killer tips on how to travel Europe cheap. Many Eurail global pass reviews gloss over the MANY considerations at play with whether a Eurail pass is worth it when your goal is to travel Europe cheap, so my goal in this video is to help you decide and fully understand what you’re in for. If you’ve been wondering about a Eurail pass (how it works) or whether it is good for train travel in Germany, train travel in Italy, and all sorts of other European countries, this Eurail pass review is sure to help you make up your mind. Getting a Eurail pass is definitely one of my favourite train travel hacks, but you have to be smart about how you use it, so hopefully this video will help shed some light on the topic!
Eurail Pass – What is it \u0026 how does it work

A Eurail Pass is an allinone train ticket giving you flexible access to most trains across Europe.
There are 3 type of passes:
The Eurail Global Pass which allows a passenger to visit 28 countries throughout Europe in any order.
The Eurail Select Pass. The Select pass allows travelers to choose from 2, 3 or 4 bordering countries. For example Italy \u0026 Switzerland, is an example of 2 neighboring countries. This pass provides the flexibility to plan a trip and comes with the most options;
and finally
The Eurail One Country Pass is for exploring a single country or area; these passes are valid for one month, but the exact number of travel days available varies per country.
Unlike traditional train tickets, with Eurail you can go wherever you want, whenever you want. Some trains do ask you to make a reservation, but most trains can be boarded as easily as flashing your Pass.
Missed your train or changed your travel plans? No problem – just hop on board the next service and enjoy the ride.
After deciding what type of pass you want the next decision is the amount of time you need the pass to be valid for. Most passes are Flexi Passes – they give you a certain number of travel days within a set time frame. For example, you might have 5 travel days within a 1month period.
OneCountry and Select Passes are all Flexi Passes. The Global Pass also comes in Consecutive versions. These passes are valid for all the days within a certain time: 15 days, 22 days, or one, two or even three months. If you have a pretty good idea of your itinerary, or at least how many cities you’re going to visit, a Flexi Pass will probably be your best option. But if you’re planning to cover a lot of ground, or want to really keep all your options open, a Consecutive Pass lets spontaneity win.
So who can buy a Eurail pass? Anyone who isn’t a European citizen, or who is a nonEuropean resident. If you are European, you can travel with the very similar Interrail pass. Because it’s not for European residents, the Eurail pass can only be bought and delivered to an address outside of Europe.
