My current pc came with a G3240, we bought it new in 2014 and I have been gaming on it ever since. With 4gb of ddr3 and no gpu it was pretty bad, but after gaming on it for years I got used to it. About a month ago I finally decided to upgrade it. I switched the G3240 out for an i5 4670, and went from 4gb of ddr3 to 16gb. the stock 300w psu didn't have a pcie power cable, so I switched it out for a 500w unit. it came with a 1tb hdd, but I added a 240gb ssd on top of that. For a gpu my sister is going to give me her 1060 when she installs her new 2080, it should pair with my 4670 pretty well. All in all upgrading my pc cost around $250, and I think it was well worth it!

Multiplayer games need more cpu but most single player games work fine and depends on if the game needs more than 2 cores which most don't.
I'm getting 75-90 fps on Fortnite zero to none frame dips, 90-120 fps on CS:GO no frame dips at all, with this exact processor, 8gb ddr3 dual channel ram and an Asus RX550 2gb (a much weaker gpu than the GTX1060). My monitor is 900p though but I doubt 1080p would make that big of a difference.
