This Flying Fortress became the first B-17 to complete 25 combat missions over Europe, achieving the milestone on May 13, 1943—beating the famous Memphis Belle by a week. The crew of Hell’s Angels demonstrated extraordinary courage, braving enemy fighters and flak on every mission. Instead of returning to the U.S. after 25 missions, the aircraft continued flying in combat, completing an incredible 48 missions before being reassigned for non-combat roles.
